30 for 30 Challenge – Day 29
Tuesday, March 1st, 2011Mustard is such a hot hue right now. And I’m kind of obsessed with it. Every time I go shopping, I find myself immediately drawn to the yellow-colored clothing and accessories. But when I selected this mustard cardigan as one of my 30 pieces for Kendi’s Remix Challenge, I was a little nervous about it. I mean, I just didn’t think it would go with much.
How wrong I was.
This cardigan goes with everything. Everything. After nearly 30 days of wearing 30 items, I now consider this cardigan a neutral color.

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011I was watching How I Met Your Mother on CBS Monday night when David and I had the following conversation:
Me: “Hey, that girl on TV is wearing my sweater.”
Him: “No, that’s not your sweater.”
Me: “Yes it is! Look at the ruffle on the side. That’s my sweater!”
Him: “Oh, yeah. I guess it is your sweater.”
Me: “It’s so cute on her, right?”
Him: “It’s o.k. on her. But it looks really pretty on you.”
And that’s just one of many reasons why I keep that kid around.

30 for 30 Challenge – Day 21
Monday, February 21st, 2011When I discovered this belt buckle bracelet on the table of a street vendor in New York City, I had to have it. And after speaking with the young lady selling the beautiful bauble, I was thrilled to learn she was also the designer and artist of the entire collection. It was her dream, she told me, to own her own store and eventually have her jewelry line sold in major retail stores throughout the country such as Nordstroms. So she packed her bags and moved to New York from a little town in Iowa where she was born and raised, so she could make jewelry all night and sell it all day because she said while she smirked, “If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere.”
I love those kinds of stories. I hope she makes it. I think she will.

Saturday, February 19th, 2011I’ve been all sorts of obsessed with the color pink these days. And I really, really, really want to paint our guest bedroom a pretty pale version of soft shade. David thinks I want to incorporate more feminine frills into my life because I’m surrounded by my 3 stinky boys all day, every day. And I think he’s right. I mean, when I ask my husband why he’s grumpy and he responds, “I’m not grumpy, I just have to poop,” - I think I deserve a pretty pink room. Don’t you? But since I can’t live in pink yet, I guess I’ll just have to dress in it. And that’s okay. For now.

Friday, February 18th, 2011I’ve never tucked a sweater into a skirt before and belted it, but now that I’m on day 18 of Kendi’s 30 for 30 Challenge, I’m really being forced to style my stuff differently since my clothing options are so limited. Would I do it again? I would! I really like the look. But what I like more: the remix concept itself. I can’t wait to get my hot hands on the rest of my wardrobe and put into action all I’ve learned over the last 18 days.
