If the LC by Lauren Conrad collection for Kohl’s doesn’t put you in a good mood, I don’t know what will. I mean, this girl is on roll, with her growing lifestyle site, beauty blog and People StyleWatch gig. Her spring 2012 collection is feminine, colorful and California-cool. There are spring dresses, skinny jeans, and breezy blouses in a mix of floral prints and light brights like coral, dusty rose and sky blue. There is a perfect little black dress, a faux-leather jacket and a tailored blazer – all great wardrobe staples, while a yellow and white colorblock top, peplum vest and high-low skirt will let you check off all the latest trends without spending too much. And you’ll gasp when you see all the sweet fashion jewelry.

Making blueberry lemon muffins in heart cupcake papers for my boys to take to preschool today totally put me in the Valentine’s Day spirit. Reichen and Latham laughed, jumped up and down, and clapped like crazy at the thought of passing out the sweet treats wrapped in the pretty print to all their friends.
And that’s the same reaction I hope you have this holiday, but in case your loved one needs a little help, I put together the following Valentine Goodie Guide.
Enjoy!
p.s. David, just in case you’re reading this, #11 would totally make me laugh, jump up and down, and clap like crazy. Just sayin’…

What could be more glamorous than gold? The shimmering metallic color has recently made a stunning resurgence, appearing not only in decorative objects and picture frames, but also in furnishings, sunglasses, and nail polish. It can be as gleaming and reflective as chrome and silver, but gold also has the advantage that its sunny character is infinitely warmer.
Here are a few of my favs. Enjoy!

2. Kate Spade Ooh La La Necklace
3. Michael KorsOversized Runway
4. SEPHORA by OPI As good As gold
5. Ray-BanRound Frame
6. Z Gallerie Potted Twig Tree
7. Hive & HoneySkinny Glitter
8. MAKE UP FOR EVER Rock For Ever Aqua Eyes
9. Crate & Barrel Jules Accent Table

Me: “If I sit like this, can you see my shorts? Because seeing my entire outfit is kind of the whole point of this 30 for 30 thingy.”
David: “Oh yeah. You can see ‘em.”
The conversation David and I had just prior to him snapping these shots for me.
I am wearing shorts. Really, I am.

I’ve never worn this sweet spaghetti strap dress with anything other than flip flops. And that’s exactly reason # 332 why I adore Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge. When you only have 30 clothing options to choose from, you have to mix and match. And voila: new outfit!

I heart The Beauty Department blog so much that I used three of its recent tutorials – Catty Eye, The Everyday Wave, and The Perfect Red Lip - for date night with David on Friday. We had such a fun time at dinner and drinks with friends before attending an incredible fashion show in Kansas City, and I just wanted to share a few photos of what I wore.
What did you do this weekend?

Don’t you just love-a-dub-dub a super steal? Well, that’s exactly what I got at the Gap this weekend. I mean, I was already going to buy this originally priced $53 pleated black skirt when I saw it marked down to $15, but when the woman at the register rang it up, it was $9!
Seriously.
And David doesn’t even appreciate my super steal. At. All.
Me: “LOOK AT THIS SKIRT I BOUGHT FOR $9 TODAY AT THE GAP!!!”
Him: “What?”
Me: “LOOK AT THIS SKIRT I BOUGHT FOR $9 TODAY AT THE GAP!!!”
Him: “Oh, yeah. It’s nice.”
Me: “NICE? NICE? IT’S AWESOME! AND IT ONLY COST $9.”
Him: “Yeah? It’s nice. Good for you.”
So I hope you understand my desperate disire for a little something more than ‘nice.’ And I know I can count of you guys.

The best part about Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge: my boys. They think it’s hilarious that daddy takes pictures of mommy in all her outfits. For this particular photo shoot, Latham grabbed a clothes hanger and pretended it was a camera so he could snap pictures of mommy, too. “Mommy, say CHEESEBURGER,” my 2-year-old singsonged over, over, and over again. And then he wanted in on the action, himself.

The fog never quite lifted outside here today which all sorts of ironic, because it never quite lifted in my head either. I mean, seriously – I had to go to the grocery store 3 times today. Enough said.

But the gloomy weather did insprire my bright outfit. I never would have paired a yellow top with a purple skirt before Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge, but I kind of like it. Here’s to the fog lifting tomorrow – both outside and inside.

I always get dressed up for date night. I mean, it’s so easy for moms to get stuck in the pony tail, jeans, and t-shirt rut that any chance I get to put on a dress and heels for dinner and dancing, I take it.
We didn’t go dancing tonight, but during dinner I was invited to go to a New Kids on the Block / Backstreet Boys concert this summer. And guess what?!?! I AM TOTALLY GOING TO GO! Ahhh… the memories. My high school cheer squad did a halftime dance to NKOB’s ‘Hangin’ Tough’ like a million and a half years ago. And Brian Littrell from the Backstreet Boys was totally my boyfriend in my mind when the boy band was big in the ’90s.
I’ll probably wear a dress to that concert, too. I mean, I’ve got to look my best. What if Brian Littrell plucks me from the audience to serenade me.
What?
It could happen.

I dreaded the yearly spelling bee contest when I was a kid. Dreaded. It. My face always burned bright when the teacher made me and the rest of the kids in my class stand along the chalkboard from smallest to tallest. I would always fidget my fingers waiting for her to give me the word I knew I would undoubtedly spell wrong. And since I was always on the small side of the small to tall line up, I never had to wait long.
The bell would ding. My face would burn even brighter. And I would take my seat.
So it was no surprise to me what-so-ever, when I wrote this post that David mentioned to me that JC Penney has a second ’E’ in it.
Me: “Are you serious?”
Him: “Yes, I’m serious. JC Penney is spelled P-e-n-n-E-y.”
Me: “Why didn’t you tell me that on Day 1 of this remix challenge?”
Him: “I didn’t notice it, I guess.”
Me: “I’VE BEEN SPELLING JC PENNEY WITHOUT AN ‘E’ FOR 25 DAYS AND YOU’RE JUST TELLING ME NOW???”
Him: {Shrug} “I didn’t notice it.”
So for the last hour, I’ve been going through every. single. post. changing JC Penny to JC Penney. And I feel like I’m in 5th grade all over again.
Sigh.

It hit 70 degrees here today which means I didn’t even have to wear a jacket with my tunic and tights. Me. Likey. A. Lot. But I suppose I need to soak up this sip of spring while it’s here. Weather.com predicts snow again later this week. Me. Not. Likey. At. All.

I’ve never tucked a sweater into a skirt before and belted it, but now that I’m on day 18 of Kendi’s 30 for 30 Challenge, I’m really being forced to style my stuff differently since my clothing options are so limited. Would I do it again? I would! I really like the look. But what I like more: the remix concept itself. I can’t wait to get my hot hands on the rest of my wardrobe and put into action all I’ve learned over the last 18 days.
Have a happy weekend!
