If the LC by Lauren Conrad collection for Kohl’s doesn’t put you in a good mood, I don’t know what will. I mean, this girl is on roll, with her growing lifestyle site, beauty blog and People StyleWatch gig. Her spring 2012 collection is feminine, colorful and California-cool. There are spring dresses, skinny jeans, and breezy blouses in a mix of floral prints and light brights like coral, dusty rose and sky blue. There is a perfect little black dress, a faux-leather jacket and a tailored blazer – all great wardrobe staples, while a yellow and white colorblock top, peplum vest and high-low skirt will let you check off all the latest trends without spending too much. And you’ll gasp when you see all the sweet fashion jewelry.

I love when David strolls through a store and sees a pretty pair of pink heels, he thinks of me. It makes getting dressed for date night that much more delightful.

What could be more glamorous than gold? The shimmering metallic color has recently made a stunning resurgence, appearing not only in decorative objects and picture frames, but also in furnishings, sunglasses, and nail polish. It can be as gleaming and reflective as chrome and silver, but gold also has the advantage that its sunny character is infinitely warmer.
Here are a few of my favs. Enjoy!

Okay. Not the best lighting ever to take a picture, so good thing you’ve seen all the items in this outfit like 10 other times during the past 28 days, right?
Right.

Often times, when I need a casual yet chic outfit for a lunch date, impromptu party, or girls night out, I pull out my skinny jeans and pair it with a blazer. I even wore the classic combination when I attended an outdoor musical, 9 to 5, with my mother-in-law. So, if you don’t have a simple black or navy blazer in your closet, you’ve got to get one. When you add this wardrobe staple to your fashion diet, your style will never go hungry. And to switch it up, you can accessorize with belts, handbags, scarves and jewelry.

We were under an excessive heat warning today with temperatures hitting 103. So the question is: WHY AM I WEARING A SWEATER?
The answer: fashion over function, my friends. Fashion over function.
‘Nuff said.

This is the first time since I was about five that I’ve worn a romper. I got it on super sale at the Gap a few weeks ago and was waiting for Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge to give it a go. This outfit is so cute in person, but I’m not super psyched about how it translated to the blog. I’ll style it better next time. Promise.

When it comes to clothes, I’m not a matchy matchy kind of girl. And that drives my husband crazy. I mean, I think he needs to see someone about it. It actually hurt him, he said, to snap these shots of me for Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge because my shoes didn’t ‘match’ my pants.
I should probably make an appointment for him this week. But I have a sneaking suspicion, the therapist might think his whole matchy matchy obsession is the least of his problems.

Mustard is such a hot hue right now. And I’m kind of obsessed with it. Every time I go shopping, I find myself immediately drawn to the yellow-colored clothing and accessories. But when I selected this mustard cardigan as one of my 30 pieces for Kendi’s Remix Challenge, I was a little nervous about it. I mean, I just didn’t think it would go with much.
How wrong I was.
This cardigan goes with everything. Everything. After nearly 30 days of wearing 30 items, I now consider this cardigan a neutral color.
Try it. You’ll like it.

The fog never quite lifted outside here today which all sorts of ironic, because it never quite lifted in my head either. I mean, seriously – I had to go to the grocery store 3 times today. Enough said.

But the gloomy weather did insprire my bright outfit. I never would have paired a yellow top with a purple skirt before Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge, but I kind of like it. Here’s to the fog lifting tomorrow – both outside and inside.

I always get dressed up for date night. I mean, it’s so easy for moms to get stuck in the pony tail, jeans, and t-shirt rut that any chance I get to put on a dress and heels for dinner and dancing, I take it.
We didn’t go dancing tonight, but during dinner I was invited to go to a New Kids on the Block / Backstreet Boys concert this summer. And guess what?!?! I AM TOTALLY GOING TO GO! Ahhh… the memories. My high school cheer squad did a halftime dance to NKOB’s ‘Hangin’ Tough’ like a million and a half years ago. And Brian Littrell from the Backstreet Boys was totally my boyfriend in my mind when the boy band was big in the ’90s.
I’ll probably wear a dress to that concert, too. I mean, I’ve got to look my best. What if Brian Littrell plucks me from the audience to serenade me.
What?
It could happen.

Here’s the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: it’s been raining, sleeting, and snowing all day here and the boys and I have been homebound. So honestly, the only reason I changed out of my sweats today was to take these pictures for Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge.
And then, I put my sweats back on.

Jewelry, handbags and scarves. Shoes, belts and hats. Typical categories of women’s accessories. But I think a new one should be added to the mix: nail polish. With the wide spectrum of color on the market today, there is no reason to think of it as anything but an accessory. Store shelves are now lined with so many fashion forward colors and company’s such as OPI are always revealing new inventive shades with the most whimsical names that just begs you to slick it on your nails to see what it looks like.
Kendi’s 30 for 30 challenge may limit my clothes, but I can change my polish as much as I like and I find by doing so, it’s an easy way to change the look of my outfit. Try it. You’ll like it.

Since I’m petite, and by petite I mean short, tunics are perfect for me. The longer length allows me to wear it as either a dress or a top, which makes it a super versatile piece for the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge. And how cool is the necklace I’m wearing? It was a gift from my mother-in-law for Christmas. I love the oxidized geometric circles with the small enamel flecks of blue and green.
And, P.S. – Did you notice my little rhinoceros in the background? I adopted him from ZGallerie a few days ago. I love him.
