Just in Case You Need to buy Me a Present

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

You know what’s really handy, dandy about this little bloggity, blog thingamajig I have going on here?  Every now and then, my handsome husband actually reads it.

The last time he hopped on was just before my birthday in December.  He was looking for the perfect present for my 35th, and boy did he discover a doozy.

So, I thought, you know, just in case he needed an idea or two for future holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, or President’s Day, these lamps from Z Gallerie would look perfect in our dining room.

In my humble opinion, it’s all about the ‘crap’ when it comes to making your house a home.  I specifically use that word because that’s what my husband calls every single exquisite accessory I bring home.  It doesn’t matter if it’s a picture, vase, or cabinet hardware - according to him it’s all ‘crap.’  For all you fellow ‘crap’ lovers out there, I found the light fixture of a life time.

It’s the Lights Up! Louie Pendant Lamp and you can find it online at Design Public.  It’s an extraordinary combination of cute and stylish, they’re graceful and practical.  In other words, it’s the perfect ‘crap’ to hang over my kitchen table.  Did you hear that, hubby?

Karmic Dream Come True

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

I believe you reap what you sow.  I believe what goes around, comes around.  In other words, I believe in karma or at least crazy karma catch phrases.  I also believe I must be living a pretty flawless life at the moment because when I strolled into Anthropologie this weekend, my karmic dreams came true.  I discovered the most amazing floor lamp at the most amazing price.  That’s right, it was on SUPER SALE which also just happen to be my favorite two words in the English language.

For months and months and months and months, I’ve been coveting Jonathan Adler’s white trousdale lamp.  It is the most perfect floor lamp ever created and the price reflects it.  For a cool $1000 you too can have the sexy sinuous silhouette in white lacquer.

When I told my husband that I must have it he said I must have my head examined.  Begrudgingly, I decided he was right.  I have two kids for goodness sake and let’s face it:  the economy just isn’t what it was in the ’90s.  Extravagant spending is so last decade.  I never forgot about my trousdale lamp.  In vain, I searched the world over for its replacement and left the living room spot open where it was supposed to happily ever after sit.  I joyously filled that spot with my super sale Anthropologie floor lamp two days ago.

It’s perfect.  I love it.  I love it.  I love it.  It makes me so happy when I see it and it makes me so happy that I only paid 1/10th of the price of the Adler lamp.  Cha-ching!
