If This Doesn’t Put You in a Good Mood, I Don’t Know What Will

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

If the LC by Lauren Conrad collection for Kohl’s doesn’t put you in a good mood, I don’t know what will.  I mean, this girl is on roll, with her growing lifestyle sitebeauty blog and People StyleWatch gig.  Her spring 2012 collection is feminine, colorful and California-cool. There are spring dresses, skinny jeans, and breezy blouses in a mix of floral prints and light brights like coral, dusty rose and sky blue.  There is a perfect little black dress, a faux-leather jacket and a tailored blazer – all great wardrobe staples, while a yellow and white colorblock top, peplum vest and high-low skirt will let you check off all the latest trends without spending too much.  And you’ll gasp when you see all the sweet fashion jewelry.

30 for 30 Remix – Day 23

I love these earrings.  But the best thing about this pretty pair:  the price.  I got them on super duper sale at Target for $3.00!

30 for 30 Remix – Day 10

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

I love tuelle skirts and when I discovered this one in an adult size, I grabbed it.  Add a pair of silver sneakers, a stripe tank, and slew of silver bracelets and you’ve got a sweet summer outfit.  I mean, why should 5 year old girls have all the fun?

30 for 30 Remix – Day 7

I love wearing a simple skirt, shirt, and flip flops on a hot and muggy day.  Holy cow, it’s hot here!  I think I’m going to melt.  Seriously.

30 for 30 Remix – Day 5

When it comes to clothes, I’m not a matchy matchy kind of girl.  And that drives my husband crazy.  I mean, I think he needs to see  someone about it.  It actually hurt him, he said, to snap these shots of me for Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge because my shoes didn’t ‘match’ my pants.

I should probably make an appointment for him this week.  But I have a sneaking suspicion, the therapist might think his whole matchy matchy obsession is the least of his problems.

30 for 30 Remix – Day 2

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

I’ve never worn this sweet spaghetti strap dress with anything other than flip flops.  And that’s exactly reason # 332 why I adore Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge.  When you only have 30 clothing options to choose from, you have to mix and match.  And voila:  new outfit!

30 for 30 Challenge – Day 29

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Mustard is such a hot hue right now.  And I’m kind of obsessed with it.  Every time I go shopping, I find myself immediately drawn to the yellow-colored clothing and accessories.  But when I selected this mustard cardigan as one of my 30 pieces for Kendi’s Remix Challenge, I was a little nervous about it.  I mean, I just didn’t think it would go with much.

How wrong I was.

This cardigan goes with everything.  Everything.  After nearly 30 days of wearing 30 items, I now consider this cardigan a neutral color.

Try it.  You’ll like it.

30 for 30 Challenge – Day 27

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

The fog never quite lifted outside here today which all sorts of ironic, because it never quite lifted in my head either.  I mean, seriously – I had to go to the grocery store 3 times today.  Enough said.

But the gloomy weather did insprire my bright outfit.  I never would have paired a yellow top with a purple skirt before Kendi’s 30 for 30 Remix Challenge, but I kind of like it.  Here’s to the fog lifting tomorrow – both outside and inside.

30 for 30 Challenge – Day 26

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

I always get dressed up for date night.  I mean, it’s so easy for moms to get stuck in the pony tail, jeans, and t-shirt rut that any chance I get to put on a dress and heels for dinner and dancing, I take it.

We didn’t go dancing tonight, but during dinner I was invited to go to a New Kids on the Block / Backstreet Boys concert this summer.  And guess what?!?!  I AM TOTALLY GOING TO GO!  Ahhh… the memories.  My high school cheer squad did a halftime dance to NKOB’s ‘Hangin’ Tough’ like a million and a half years ago.  And Brian Littrell from the Backstreet Boys was totally my boyfriend in my mind when the boy band was big in the ’90s.

I’ll probably wear a dress to that concert, too.  I mean, I’ve got to look my best.  What if Brian Littrell plucks me from the audience to serenade me.

It could happen.

If Ya Can’t Swim With ’em, Wear ’em

Friday, June 4th, 2010

There is something so sweet about these starfish earrings from Stella & Dot

I mean, if ya can’t swim with ’em, wear ’em.  That’s what I always say.

Jewelry Junkie

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

I’m a jewelry junkie.  I have been ever since I can remember.  I began begging for beautiful baubles at an early age.  My parents knew the formula for success:  birthday +  little bitty box = happy daughter.

I’m even happier now that I can purchase pieces for myself every now and then and there are some great, affordable collections out there right now.

These pretty earring are from Banana Republic.  The green and white color combination is perfect for the spring and summer months.  The three tier drops set in brass only cost $34.

I’m also really loving the bib style of necklace a lot of stores are carrying right now.  This one is from JCrew.  The jeweled palm leaf piece is certainly a statement.  To be honest, I haven’t even tried one on yet, but I will.  I think it is so pretty.  The resin creation costs $175.

QVC is also a great place to check out great designer jewelry.  The turquoise starfish pin by Kenneth Jay Lane looks so expensive and only costs $75.  Love it!
