Sweet and Simple

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

I heart this sweet and simple jewelry collection from designer Pheobe Coleman.  And I’m really hoping Santa will bring me a piece or two for Christmas.

Hint. Hint. Hint.

(Subtle, right? I thought so.)

Let’s Bang it Out

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine suggested I cut a blunt bang;  the more I thought about the idea, the more I liked it.  So when my next hair appointment rolled around, I did it.  And I gotta say…

I. LOVE. IT.

The One About Stripes and Bikes

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

I don’t care if I’m the 2,331,723 blog to post photos of Missoni’s new Target collection. Redundancies, whatever: this is stuff I want, need, covet, and cherish.

The collection includes tons of clothes, of course, but the preview snaps also show luggage, plates, pillows, mugs, laptop cases, blankets and even a bicycle all covered in Missoni’s iconic, colorful, zigzag prints.

But these photos are just the tip of the iceberg, as there are more than 400 pieces to the Missoni for Target line, all priced between $7.99 and $199.99.

Things I need right now:  the cardi, the sweaterdress, and the bike.

The collection hits Target stores September 13.

I. Can’t. Wait.

Sole Much Fun!

When shoes and booties cross-pollinate, you get a silhouette affectionately known as the shootie.  And while I do have a couple pair of shooties my fashion arsenal, there’s always room for more.

Polish Me Crazy

Monday, August 1st, 2011

Have you seen the Salon Effects Nail Strips by Sally Hanson?  I’m super obsessed.

It’s real nail polish that you simply press onto your nail, and voila!  You get a crazy, cool, and perfect multi-colored design.

There are 24 options to choose from, but if you’re not into nail art, you can also apply solid colors and glitters.  And the best part:  the strips last forever.  There’s no fading, chipping, or receding at the edges.  Zero drying time.  Quick and easy to apply.  And easy to remove with nail polish remover.

It’s $9.95 to buy a box of 16 nail strips, so I what I did to make them last a little longer is paint the rest of my nails with polish and only apply one strip to my ring finger.

I can’t wait to try all 24 designs and colors!

Hue Knew?

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Hue knew this summer season would be saturated with so much color?  Watches, dresses, handbags, and shoes are getting energized with vibrant splashes of hot hues.  Lemon yellow, orange crush, and grape purple are just a few of my favs.

Just A Little Nugget of Nuttiness

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

Sometimes, when I find something amazing on super sale, I choke on my own breath a bit.  Don’t worry.  I mean, I don’t pass out and catch myself with my face when I do it.  It’s just a little nugget of nuttiness I thought I should share.

Too much?

Well, it’ll so be worth the read when I tell you I bought the most amazing jacket at Ann Taylor Loft this weekend for $10.  The original price:  $79.50.

You’re welcome.

Tie-ing The Knot

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Since its launch in 2009, Peirpont Hicks, billed as a classic tie company for the modern man, has taken the fashion industry by storm.  And starting next  month, Peirpont Hicks will make its entree into women’s accessories with a line of bow tie belts.

And I, for one, am totally psyched about it.  Totally.

Date Night Duds

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

I heart The Beauty Department blog so much that I used three of its recent tutorials – Catty Eye, The Everyday Wave, and The Perfect Red Lip - for date night with David on Friday.  We had such a fun time at dinner and drinks with friends before attending an incredible fashion show in Kansas City, and I just wanted to share a few photos of what I wore.

What did you do this weekend?

On the Bright Side

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

Florescent.  Electric.  Neon.  Bright.  Hyper.  Whatever you call it, the trend this spring and summer isn’t just a pop of color – it’s a punch!  Vibrant hues of pink, orange, yellow, and green have  moved from the runway to retailers and are popping up in spring campaigns for Michael Kors and J Crew.

It takes a certain confidence (and love for the 80′s) to wear neons, but paired with neutrals this trend can make an appearance in any wardrobe.  My favorite combos are navy & neon pink and tan & orange, both of which have already made their way into heavy rotation in my wardrobe.

But the neon accessory I heart the most this spring and summer season:  orange lipstick.  Seriously.  Try it.  It’s awesome.

Lauren Lauches Beauty Blog!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011
Her latest foray into the reality TV world might not have worked out, but fear not, Lauren Conrad is anything but bored. The former MTV starlet, author, and budding fashion designer just launched thebeautydepartment.com, a website full of hair and makeup tips she’s procured over the years.

The photo and video how-tos star Conrad, plus her longtime hairstylist, Kristin Ess, and her makeup artist, Amy Nadine.  The talented trio covers hair, nail, and makeup basics, as well as health-related beauty topics, like sun protection.

And if you want, you can even submit questions which the girls will attempt to answer.

Enjoy!

Don’t You Wish Your Skirt Cost $9.87?

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Don’t you just love-a-dub-dub a super steal?  Well, that’s exactly what I got at the Gap this weekend.  I mean, I was already going to buy this originally priced $53 pleated black skirt when I saw it marked down to $15, but when the woman at the register rang it up, it was $9!

Seriously.

And David doesn’t even appreciate my super steal. At. All.

Me:  “LOOK AT THIS SKIRT I BOUGHT FOR $9 TODAY AT THE GAP!!!”

Him:  “What?”

Me:  “LOOK AT THIS SKIRT I BOUGHT FOR $9 TODAY AT THE GAP!!!”

Him:  “Oh, yeah.  It’s nice.”

Me:  “NICE?  NICE?  IT’S AWESOME!  AND IT ONLY COST $9.”

Him:  “Yeah?  It’s nice.  Good for you.”

So I hope you understand my desperate disire for a little something more than ‘nice.’  And I know I can count of you guys.
