“It’s only a matter of time,” the guy at the jewelry counter chuckled after I asked him about the HUGE promotional picture hanging behind him. He didn’t have to wiggle his unibrow and mouth the words, “Get it? Get it?” before I got it, either.

I get he thinks his one liner is clever. I get Tiger is a hot topic. And I get it’s not up to him who hocks the luxury time pieces.
“It’s a corporate decision,” he mutters while repairing my watch, which is why I popped into the jewelry store in the first place. He said he could fix it in a ‘jiffy’, if I could wait.
His words, not mine.
While I waited, he told me all about the opinions of those who bought baubles since Tiger’s ‘transgressions’ two weeks ago. He said most of his customers are family men who love their wives and think the guy in the TAG Heuer ad is a loser. They don’t like him, he said. Not. One. Little. Bit.
I’m sad to say, I was surprised. I’m not sure why. I haven’t really given Tiger’s troubles much thought. I just knew how my husband feels about the whole thing; he believes Tigers actions are utterly unacceptable. But at the time I thought, he’s probably in the minority. I just assumed most men would say Tiger should be sorry – sorry for getting caught.
Not only did the jewerly guy say I was wrong, so did the Swiss watch company Tiger once represented.
TAG Heuer announced this weekend they won’t be using Tiger Woods’ tarnished image in any of their upcoming ads. The CEO of the company told the Swiss paper Le Matin, “We recognize Tiger Woods as a great sportsman but we have to take account of the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events.”
I guess the jewelry guy was right; Just because Tiger runs through cocktail waitresses like clockwork, doesn’t make him a good spokesman for a watch company.
His words, not mine.

Hi, I am visiting today from Jill’s Scary Mommy blog. I saw your comment there and came over to say hi! I loved this post. Very wise! It makes me sad that he behaved like that with a wife and family at home. I mean, if men want to go crazy with girls, WHY get married? Who forces them? It just blows my mind : ) Hope you have a merry Christmas! I love the picture in your blog header and also your tag line about the stinky boys. Very cute!
I guess I’m a bit surprised too that most men think his behavior isn’t approporiate. That makes me feel better about “men” in general.
