If you ever get 20 minutes to yourself, you should totally go drugstore diving. I sneak in a quick visit at least once a month on the way to the gym. It’s intoxicating. All the lotions and potions; all the make-up and magazines; all the polishes and sprays – there are so many fun finds under $15 that I thought I would share a few of my favs:

All of Boots bath and body line comes in vaguely medicinal yet somehow totally feminine tubes and jars. The way-more-high-tech-than-they-look formulas really work. My favorite is the Lavender hand cream which costs $8. The most expensive item is the $13 bath oil, so you can splurge and get everything you want. You can find the Boots product line at Target.

I’ve tried every mascara on the block and I always get back to the basics in the green and pink tube. Great Lash doesn’t claim to have the biggest brush with lots of bristles or a super long lasting collagen-rich formula, but you know what? I’ve tried all those mascaras that make all those crazy claims and they never work – for me anyhow. You can find this make up bag must have for $4.50 at any drugstore or online at www.drugstore.com.

I know your hairstylist tells you that you need the ‘good’ shampoo – one that will keep your color longer – one that will leave you with less breakage – one that will not leave residue – blah… blah… blah… But did you know they get paid to tell you that? Every single one of them gets a percentage of every hair product they sell. In other words – drugstore shampoo works just as well. I specifically love Dove. The fresh-squeezed citrusy scent of Dove’s Go Fresh shampoo is my favorite. It costs $4.

Green may not be your nail color of choice this season but you can’t go wrong with any OPI polish you pick. It dries fast, clean and perfect even for those of us who struggle during the application process. It’s $9 a bottle and you can pick it up at any drugstore, but if you want to check out all of OPI’s color collection you can find it at www.opi.com.
In case you’re counting, it would only cost you about $25 to get all these products. That’s less than you would pay for one lipstick at the make-up counter at the mall. You gotta love drugstore diving!
